Hi all hope your all as well as can be , I just wondered if anyone else is having or has experienced the problem im having. I find that when I fall asleep my breathing gets so shallow that I wake up gasping and have to concentrate on my breathing. It started mid last year but settled down but its nack again. My hubby thinks it might be the Gabapentin but it started before I began taking them. It’s really exhausting. Krissy x
hi krissy
get to your gp and get it checked out.
i’ve been doing the breathworks mindfulness course and it really helps me to be aware of my breathing.
hope you get it sorted

I have had this a few times over the years,i am not on any medication,so i doubt its the gabapentin you are taking, mines really bad,and its as if i actually stop breathing, and have to take big gasps to kick start the breathing,i think that mine is my ms,i always have done, its very scary.i am just pleased that it only happens now and again, couldnt cope with it happening more often.
Thanks for the replies ladies, I have to see neurologist again soon for a mystery 2nd lumbar puncture??? So I will give him a call tomorrow. I know what you mean Mrs J it is really horrible and im coming to the end of my tether with the lack of sleep (or should I say even more lack of sleep). It’s nice to know i’m not going mad but not nive to think other people are suffering it, if that makes any sense :-s and at least I lnow I dont need to stop my much needed meds Krissy x
hi Jen i told my gp about it ,and he looked at me as if i were mad, what was it that your cousin had ?that was causing it.
Yea my gp was like that with everything MrsJ so I dont go to him anymore
Perhaps you could ask your GP to be referred to a sleep clinic. I was, and it turned out to be sleep apnea. The sleep clinic admit you for a night in hospital and they monitor your breathing etc.
My hubby has sleep apnea and it seems alot different to what happens to me but I will get it looked into. Thanks for the replies Krissy x
