Hello, my Mum has secondary progressive MS but hasn’t been offered any medication. I watched the annual lecture (very good and worth a watch) and Sipinimod was mentioned as the drug for SPMS. Has anyone tried this? Were there any side effects and I think there is a risk to immunity whilst taking it but I’m not sure if the benefits would outway the risks? Thanks.
Hi, I was originally going to be put on Siponimod but due to concerns relating to heart issue side effects I was put on Plegridy instead.
There are lots of things to take into account with DMTs. It is worth scheduling an appointment with the MS Nurse/Neurologist to raise any questions as to why a DMT has not been offered.
I was on it and only had mild side effects which wore off, but it affected my liver and had to come off.
DMTs only work if still having relaps - not everyone with SPMS has them, butifyour mum has them I would try Siponimod. If not I’m on Plegridy like TheresaB
