Hi everyone. I just wanted to check if I am alright to still look after my 18 month old granddaughter if she has chicken pox, and how it’s likely to affect my relapsing remitting MS?
I would say don’t. In general any infection will ‘fire up’ your immune system a bit and potentially cause further damage to existing lesions or cause new ones. Something like Chicken Pox / Shingles could be bad news .
You could double check with your MS Nurse but I’m thinking she will say the same
If you have had chickenpox you should be immune ( but not everyone is)
Shingles comes from reactivation of the virus rather than infection.
But don’t listen to random people on here consult a medical professional.
Reasonably certain as I was going to a party where there was going to be someone who had chickenpox and I am about to take a drug where shingles is a possible side effect and I habe had one of my two vaccinations.
