Allo chums!
On Thursday I went for a look-see at a centre for disabled folk, as advised by my care plan manager.
I knew exactly where it was in Halifax, as I had passed it many times, but always wondered what went on there.
I arrived just before lunch and was made very welcome by many staff members. One of them, a lovey lady called Diane, showed me round and explained all the various activities and such that were on offer.
She then took me into the cafe, where I enjoyed a freshly made chicken kiev, with roast tats, cauli and broccoli, then for pud, treacle sponge and custard…all for £4!
After that I joined a group in the Arts and Crafts room. I helped a lady, Julie, whod had a stroke, make 2 greetings cards and I also helped Stephanie make a pompom. She got very impatient each time, she wanted more wool....she kept pushing the craft stuff onto the floor. My efforts to make her understand she needed to wait a sec, went awry................she has Downs...........first time I
ve ever talkked to anyone with Downs.
At the end of the afternoon we all waited for transport home and I was asked several times, if I`ll go again.
Of couse I will, sign me up, please!
I said.
So thats Mondays sorted for me… new folk to meet, new activities to learn and share. Great stuff!
luv Pollx
