Scared ? New diagnosis pending

Hi all,

I’m new here and my story basically started 8 years ago. I was basically told I could have MS from MRI but was ruled out from lumber puncture.

8 years have passed and of I’m honest things have cropped up and gone probably over the last 3 roughly. My main problem is my left leg when I get tired or hot I feel like I’m not picking my foot up properly. Today I’m absolutely fine it’s not all the time, then my optician in May told me I have pale optic nerves which kind of pushed me into going to the GP. Here I am I’ve seen a neurologist privately and he agrees from just examining me o do need further tests. Tomorrow I’m going for MRI of spine and brain.
He’s reassured me that I haven’t got a brain tumour or MMD but couldn’t rule MS out of the equation. I’m scared if I’m honest. Does anyone else have this similar to their experiences. Thanks Lorna

Hi Lorna,
It’s natural that you’d be scared - but then, you’re being brave in pursuing this, rather than trying to brush things under the carpet.
It sounds to me like things are still very open at this stage. Most MS symptoms can also be something else. MS can take a while to rule in or out, unfortunately - they may even need a second MRI or something like that - all rather frustrating.
You’re doing the right thing. And there’s not much more you can do at this stage, other than try to get on with life! Easy to say, I know.

Thank you for replying. Had my MRI this afternoon pre and post contrast. Because luckily got private medical they said the scan will be reported on this weekend.
Sobbing in the scanner wasn’t the best but all done now. Thank you again for replying and hope your well xx
