Hi All
I think it must be a common theme amongst posts at the moment. I am having a bad day emotionally worrying about the future etc.
I have Nystagmus in one eye and I now seem to spend a large amount of time worrying about loosing vision and my driving license. I have now reached a stage of thinking if I can’t drive I won’t be much use. If anyone has positives about this condition please let me know.
Typing this I feel bad for burdening others but I am hoping that someone can relate to this.
Tecfidera tablets finally arrived so I am now almost two weeks in about to start the full dose on Wednesday I hope that this at least keeps progression down and that one day we will have a cure.

Tracey stop worrying . Worry will never change anything. What happens if it suddenly improves? Will you then worry it will come back. Worry feeds your condition you need to stop thinking the worst and think about the beautiful weather and the leaves on the tree’s and the birdsong.

Tracey,
When I was originally diagnosed, Nystagmus was one of the symptoms reported - jerky movement of one eyeball. 18 years later, this issue hasn’t got any worse, and has never been an issue that prevented me driving (…I stopped driving recently because dizziness made it unsafe - for me and other road users - to continue. Eyesight as good now as it ever was - just the Nystagmus coupled with the dizziness makes focussing in new directions take a fraction of a second longer than it used to.)
If it was solely Nystagmus, it wouldn’t have stopped me driving …and the DVLA never considered it a major issue !!
Hope this encourages you a bit?

Thank you so much for your replies.
I was getting myself worried about it all and I dont know anyone locally with MS let alone with Nystagmus. One of the Opticians I saw made me feel so bad I could have cried, consequently I have moved Opticians.

i go to the one in my local Boots, they have been fab and always make sure that i’m alright eg if it’s hot.
good for you for changing.
i cannot sing the praises of ms therapy centres enough.
find out where your nearest one is and go along.
i go to the one in trafford, manchester. i have made loads of good friends there and most are very upbeat.
i also have Hyper Barric Oxygen Therapy there.
