Scared and overwhelmed

Hi there,

I’m just posting here to vent my fear and overwhelm. I don’t want to scare my husband and can appreciate that I haven’t been diagnosed fully but I am feeling scared.

Just waiting for a neurologist appointment following my head MRI. The scan showed a number of lesions in my white matter. I’ve been having symptoms synonymous with vertigo for a number of years but it has never been investigated. I was then referred to ENT and medicated for vestibular migraines. This made my symptoms a whole lot worse. Off the meds but still experiencing coordination problems, difficulty walking over a mile, foot drop, left side of face numb and tingling for circa 2 weeks.

I don’t want to tell my family just yet until I know more but I can’t stop crying and mourning the life I could have had. Sorry to be so negative but wanted to get all this off my chest.

Sorry to hear about your symptoms and your MRI results. You are in good company here… plenty of lovely people on the forum to give advice and information through the process.

It’s not a nice experience and can imagine it feels really tough keeping this all to yourself.

You can call the MS society line if ever you want to chat to someone on the phone that knows what you may be going through and ask questions too. The number is on the website if ever you need it!!

I really hope your appointment comes around quickly so you can get some information, answers and the help you need!

Hope you are finding time to look after yourself! The diagnosis process can feel like A LOT so reach out when you need.

Hello @Msness . Sorry to hear of your worries and my sympathies to you. Also my apologies but you seem to be writing off your future life!

If it helps then My 19 years of life since diagnosis is, to be brief:

Carried on working for some 8 or so years and then took early retirement at 57

Got married

traveled a bit including a phenomenal small ship cruise around Svalbard , holidays in the Canaries, Azores, Scottish northern islands and outer Hebrides

Carried on doing DIY until I was wise enough to recognise that clambering across our roof was a bad idea

now at 72 I am still walking although not very far and use a scooter for anything over 10 mins or so.

Life isn’t too bad and although everything takes more effort than it used to I am enjoying life.
