Saw the specialist today

Nina sorry I didn’t read your earlier post and hope you’re feeling better now. I’d it a cold or hay fever messing you around? We’re surrounded by farms and they’re all harvesting at the moment. Nearly everyone I know is suffering except me, but I ended up on antihistamines too as I got an allergic reaction to my medical info disc. I’ve got a beautiful rectangle on my arm as I dozed off with it caught in my bra strap. Sometimes you never win, but the little village chemist is doing well.

Pat your mindfulness sounds very interesting. Is it a type of self hypnosis? I’d like to understand that more, will start reading. Thanks

Thanks Pat, I will give that a go, I have always been one who finds it hard to relax. I remember going to the classes when pregnant and the midwife used to laugh at me cos everyone else ended up all floppy…and me I was like a coiled spring.

I know I can do the breathing bit right cos my belly rises, will try to concentrate on the relaxing bit. My son has downloaded a relaxation thing on my tablet of waterfall noises, see if that helps.

For all those hating the world cup…Wimbledon starts tomorrow!

Don, fancy thinking I am competitive…whatever gave you that idea! Lol

Pam x

I tried it last night but with a sleep mask on it didn’t worksilly me.

Back to see him tomorrow

Good luck Don.

Best of luck x

Pam x

Hope it goes well for you. Jan x

Hope it goes well Don. I have an appointment to see my MS nurse tomorrow, she is so lovely. Hope everyone is as well as can be. Nina x
Not a form of hypnosis Cath. The basic idea is that we spend much of our lives living in our heads and not living in the present moment… or the ‘now’. So it’s a way of training yourself to stop the constant ‘brain chatter’ and just enjoy living right here, right now. Another useful exercise to try… when your doing a mundane task… say washing up… really concentrate on the task. Feel the water, feel the dishes under the water. It’s also good in the shower… just try and be fully aware of the shower and gently let go of all the thoughts that chatter away in our heads. You will find your mind wandering… everyone does. But try to just acknowledge where your mind has wandered to… like worrying or daydreaming, and then gently let it go and come back to the breathing and the here and now. Pat xx

I’ll definitely look it up Pat, it sounds like something that appeals to me. I know I’ve felt much better since I changed my outlook on life. I went through a really bad patch a while ago when they removed me from the nursing register. I felt like I’d been put on the scrap heap and was no longer useful. Since then I’ve had a serious look at life and set my achievement level much lower. I now believe that if I’ve even made someone smile I’ve achieved something. I have a friend who was really down over Christmas, she also has ms. As my budget wasn’t fantastic I made her a lovely apron to put in with her Christmas card. We have agreed not to buy each other gifts add it becomes expensive buying for everyone and they have a large family to provide gifts for. She was over the moon with it, knowing I’d made it, and that made me happier than giving some of the more expensive gifts I’d bought for people.

It doesn’t take much to make me happy now and I think it has made me feel a lot better about myself. So I think that will appeal to me.

Pat you said YOU WILL FIND YOU MID WANDERING, I remember one of the jokes in a paper, I think it was called balanced about a halfwit Lone Ranger and Tonto

The sitting on horses overlooking vast plains

Lone Ranger say look at that, really makes the mind wander

TONTO SITTING ON HIS HORSE Thinks to his self

Would something so small be allowed out on its own

I saw that twenty years ago and still remember it now.
Love it! Must try to remember that. ( I’m rubbish at remembering jokes).

Hahaha good one Don! Cath if you google ‘Mark Williams Mindfulness’ you’ll see some YouTube lectures by him. I’ve got one of his books and he’s very good. Pat xx
