Satsumas

I have had spMs for some time and seem to have dropped off the map as far as NHS is concerned. I take no medication. I would love to have a satsuma - well it is Christmas but oranges are taboo - as I was taken off medication ( Gabapentim) could I not just have one now and again?

Why are you not allowed oranges @ahallone ? I’ve always eaten oranges and especially those little ones available at this time of the year.. satsumas, tangerines clementimes.

When I was diagnosed in 2006 I was given a dietary list of foods not to eat and one was oranges and the like. It is also what the MS Nurse told me and so I have not eaten one since. Now I can’t find any reference to this in the various MS dietary pages. Seems like it is OK now so I’ll give it a go. Thanks for replying.

Yes eat Satsumas 3 a day. I’ve no faith in the medication. Nothing seems to have any positive effect on me but fresh oranges are one of the joys in life x

Hi @ahallone , I too have SPMS, nearly 20yrs now and I’ve always eaten oranges, love satsumas, no ones ever told me not too.

I’m also blessed(!) with SPMS but nobody in the medical team I see has ever advised me not to eat satumas. Perhaps just check with your neurologist?
(Sorry - I’m rather late to the party, I’ve just realised!)

I have SPMS and I eat loads of satsumas. I’ve never been told not to. What was the reasoning behind that?
