Recovery

Hi all, I was diagnosed in 2011, and any relapses I have had can be put down to other things, (kidney stones and a torn muscle) I am confined to a rise and recline chair, and have been for twelve months. I don’t feel that my nerves have deteriorated at all, but my muscles have. Now that other health issues have settled down I am determined to exercise myself back to how I was c.2012. Does anyone know of anyone whom has recovered from MS in this way?

however you choose to exercise, start off gently, lots of warm up and don’t overdo it.

build up to running the marathon. (if that is what you’re aiming for)

I wouldn’t be daft enough to suggest anything like a full recovery, but keeping your muscles as strong as possible will help to make the best of what you have. A decent physio will be able to identify areas of weakness and provide an exercise programme specific to your needs.

I agree with him! I use an exercise bike which is smart enough to back off if I have a spasm and if I am too tired to exercise it can use its motor to keep my limbs moving, which helps shunt stuff around the lymphatic system and seems to work well for me.

All the best

I have wasted muscles as I have been a full time wheelchair user for around 18 years. I cant imagine they would ever get back their strength without walking, but you never know and good luck.
