Hi all,
I have received a letter with the following from my MRI.
'White matter hyperintensities in periventricular, subcortical, and corpus callosum areas.
Intrinsic lesion in posterior cord at C4.’
I’m assuming this means that yes, I have MS.
Have an appointment on the 30th with my neurologist to discuss care plan.
Having it in 4 areas is terrifying me.
Hi, I have 7 lesions in different areas (3 in brain and 4 in spinal cord). The 3 in my brain have nothing to do with my MS, just old scarring from concussions I got as an over active tomboy during my childhood.
The 4 spinal lesions are in different spots along the spinal cord, and showed up 9 years after my initial neurology appointment/MRIs.
My balance is unpredictable, so I use a walking stick; I take medication to control the pins & needles, L’Hermittes; I am on Plegridy (DMT) to slow things down; I have Oxygen Therapy at a local MS Centre (not NHS); I work full time, I still do Taekwon-do to the best of my ability - it actually helps with fitness, balance, socialising etc. I still potter about in the garden and I do get tired faster than I used to.
Hang in there until you see the Neurologist, they may want further MRIs/testing before diagnosing, or they may go straight to diagnosis. Its not too long now until 30th and they will be best placed to advise further.
