I have been suffering for ages with a bad back and recently it’s got a lot worse and I have been noticing other symptoms that I just thought was normal but getting worse like itching all over aching in my legs arms like flu symptoms that last for a few days then get better also blurred vision Mostly in the morning and floaters in my vision I have been to the opticians twice and they say my Vision is fine ? Then I started getting dizzy and like the room suddenly comes up or feels like is suddenly tilts . I am really tired during the day but find it hard to sleep at night , I get tingling in my face and cheeks and head which last a few hours and is really annoying , i have noticed recently my sex drive has diminished which I have never had a problem before with . I went to the doctors with all this and the doctor said that I needed to see a neurologist but did say he suspected ms . I have seen the neurologist and he reported that my sysmptoms are non specific and not remarkable ? He said he was not worried about ms but would send me for a brain MRI just in case . I have had a back MRI which showed a bulging disk and some little damage which they called lesions but my doctor said not ms lesions but different ones . I am confused still but hoping that my brain MRI shows what’s wrong my worry is they find nothing on a scan so not sure what I do next my scan is in a few days so I hope to know more soon ? Has anyone else had a similar story or results as I don’t know what to do if noting is found as the pain comes and goes but when it’s bad it’s terrible and it make me feel Very depressed . Thanks very much Jethro
Hi Jethro,
Regardless what the brain MRI says, I think you are already past the “nothing found” scenario, as there are already these mysterious “non-MS” lesions in your spine, as well as the bulging disk. These findings aren’t nothing.
Spinal problems, however, only cause problems from that point down. So if the damage was relatively high up - i.e. in your neck - it could cause symptoms in your arms and legs, but could not travel upwards to cause blurred vision or facial tingling.
So the spinal findings might partially explain some symptoms - that in itself is worth further investigation - but they can’t fully explain everything.
I think it unlikely you will be discharged with these unexplained lesions, even though they don’t look like MS. Having lesions at all isn’t just a normal thing, even if they don’t look like MS.
So I don’t know exactly what next steps will be. It’s bound to depend partly on what your brain scan shows, but I don’t think it’s very likely you will be signed off and left to get on with it. At the very least, they will keep you on the books and continue to monitor. That’s my bet, anyway.
So far, it’s not looking especially like MS, but a brain MRI can be more informative than a spinal one.
There are at least 100 conditions that have some symptoms in common with MS, and these can range from a virus to a simple vitamin deficiency, so diagnosis can take a long time.

Thanks very much for your reply I will let you know what the brain scan shows when I get the results . I just hope something can be done because the pain and problems are just getting me down and very painfull. Thanks again
Hi jethro, I know this is only a small part of your symptoms, but I suffer with very dry eyes. Sometimes I wake up in the morning with very blurred vision and it lasts for varying amounts of time usually till lunchtime. Obviously dry eye is nothing to do with your other symptoms and you should look into those, but it may be dry eye causing the blurred vision. Which is easily sorted, but it may not show up on a vision test. All you need to do is try some dry eye drops which you can buy in the chemist or sleep with an eye mask on and see if that helps the vision. Hope that helps just a little? Leah
Thank you for your reply .
I have had my second MRI and some new blood tests the doctor has put me on testorogel As he thinks that may help which it has maybe a little but today is bad as I got in from work and felt ill , tired , shacky , aching in my toes and fingers and ankles and legs and dizzy and light headed just a little strange altogether . I just hope something can be done or help somehow soon . Thanks very much I will update when the brain mri results come through . Jethro .

Ur not a hypochondriac (so thats how u spell it lol) u no ur body and how it should feel, i knew what i was feeling was not right. one specialist sent me a letter sayin ’ she needs to avoid developing medication overuse, i feel that we do NOT NEED TO BE KEEPING HER UNDER REVIEW. GRRRRRRRRR . i had ms and this is what i get, i couldnt belive it. that is word for word. so dont just take what is said… i got a second opinuan and got the answer i was looking for.
