Pregnancy

Hello,

I have been trying for a baby whilst on Brabio and I am now due to start Tysabri as I have had a few relapses in the space of 3 months. My neurologist says theres no data to show that Tysabri harms the baby, but I have seen other wise.

Does anyone have any advice for me on this subject?

Lauren.

Hi, I cant advise on this, but just wanted to wish you well.

Conception and pregnancy

Pregnancy is not recommended during treatment with Tysabri.

If you are trying for a family, your MS nurse or neurologist may recommend remaining on Tysabri until conception, then review whether you should continue treatment during pregnancy based on how active your MS has been and the risk that you might have a significant relapse.

And this from the Barts Blog.

Pregnancy: Animal studies have shown no toxicity from Nz and data from clinical trials and post-marketing studies suggest Nz exposure has no adverse effect on pregnancy outcomes. Babies born to MSers on Nz have a transient mild to moderate low platelet count and anaemia, which disappear within weeks. Most neurologists are now allowing their female patients to fall pregnant whilst on Nz and then offer to stop it after they have become pregnant. Because of the emerging safety profile of Nz in pregnancy some neurologists are letting patients continue Nz throughout pregnancy. The decision to this is based on the risk of rebound MS activity when natalizumab washes out.

Hi,

Thankyou for your wishes Bouds! and Thanks Whammel for this, I feel a bit better about being on this now whilst trying.

Lauren.

I have heard that it is advisable not to take Tysabri during pregnancy. This can adversely affect the baby. When I was pregnant I was looking for different ways to improve my health to make my baby better. On https://www.canadapharmacy.com/ I read about yoga for pregnant women, about various very useful products and various vitamins. Everything is fine with me and my baby now. I also wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy

I have spoken to my consultant and he says that taking Tysabri during pregnancy is safe to do so. So I have my first infusion next week.

If anyone has any tips on how to make things better on easier when having the IV, that would be great.

Lauren.

hi

ive just become pregnant and am currently on tysabri, my consultant says it fine to do so but only selected hospitals will continue the treatment once you become pregnant! im currenty being treated at james cook in middlesborough but am now looking to have to travel another 50miles to a hospital which will continue the treatment while im pregnant or consider switching to a first line treatment instead
