At the start of the year I woke up with pins and needles in my feet which progressed up my whole body and last for approximately 2-4 weeks. Once that disappeared I was left with a buzzing feeling, in my lower back, every time I bent my neck forward. This buzzing has since moved from my back to my right side and arm. This has never gone away since the start of the year. About 8 weeks ago I started getting numbness in my left shoulder and arm which passed in a couple of days. I had an appointment with a neuro who did a neurological examination on my and said everything was fine but she was concerned in the buzzing every time I bent my neck. I had an mri and the results said that my brain scan was clear/normal but it showed two patches of inflammation on my neck. I am going out of my mind with worry as I just don’t know if this is ms or not as I have only spoken to my gp at the moment and not a neurologist. Does anyone have any ideas/help?? Please…
Hello Limboland
To start with, you have to keep in your head that no one can say whether you have or have not got MS just from a list of symptoms that you write on a forum like this.
But obviously, it seems clear that you do have some kind of neurological problem in your neck where the neurologist saw inflammation.
Have you got a further appointment with the neurologist or were you discharged?
Regardless of the answer to that, it seems that you can only get the answer about MS from the neurologist. Did he/she do any other tests? A lumbar puncture perhaps or a visual evoked potential test (LP or VEP)?
Maybe if you are seeing your GP you need to ask to be referred back to the neurologist.

Hi,
I know how upsetting it is to be left in limbo, but you should concentrate on that your brain scan is normal.
As Sue says, there are a few other tests that need to be done before a neurologist will diagnose MS. This will take time but you can be sure that if you get any really serious symptoms you’ll get seen immediately.
The vast majority of MS symptoms are pretty minor and are often just an irritating tic or tingle (you use the word ‘buzz’. but it’s all the same).
So, don’t get stressed by your own imagination. If you’re still worried, ask your doctor what he/she is going to do. If you’re still worried after that, come back to this Forum. Someone here will always reply.

Thank you for replying.
I I haven’t had a lumbar puncture nor have a spoken to a neurologist yet, I only spoke to my own gp yesterday who didn’t really understand the medical terminology in the document the hospital had sent to her. She said the letter would be easier for get to understand as she isn’t a neurologist. All she could tell me was that my brain scan was normal but there was 2 patches of inflammation in my neck?? Any info you can get me right now would be much appreciated as I have to wait until
monday now which is torture!
