I’ll try make this short!! Around 2 weeks ago I noticed my left little toe was completely numb and a couple of days later realised the one on the other foot was as well. I first put it down to footwear but a fortnight later, I still have no feeling. I’ve done the pin prick test myself as GP didn’t and I cannot feel hot or cold. I have no pain or pins & needles. There’s almost a (non-visible) border where the skin goes from being numb to normal.
I suffer with Juvenile Idopathic Arthritis (currently 23 y/o) and my rheumatologists are baffled, although I was told it is most definitely a nerve problem as I have good blood supply to the foot.
Every search I have done has come back with B12 deficiency or MS early symptoms. I’m just wanting advice from someone who has experienced MS first hand, as I cannot find evidence of numbness without the tingling/pain alongside.
Numb toes (with intermittent pins and needles) is how my path to diagnosis (which is on-going - I have clinically isolated syndrome) began, so this is worth following up with your GP if it continues or you experience other odd neurological symptoms. That said, don’t jump ahead of yourself and worry yourself unnecessarily. Dr Google can be very helpful - and also very frightening. There could be lots of other things causing your numb toes and MS (which I’ve learnt over the last month has a number of mimics) is fortunately rare - so the chances are your numb toes are just one of those things, will pass quickly and you can forget all about MS. Keep well. Katy xx
My first symptom was a feeling of something tied around my toe, then I had walking on glass, then I got numb toes. All was without tingling. Then all hell broke loose. 8 months on, and the only symptom I have is tingling, (apart from the slight weakness and mild foot-drop that is).
Still don’t know what is wrong with me, but everyone’s sure it isn’t ms (I’m still here as it’s friendly and I’m having similar symptoms/problems as everyone else!). My neuro told me that the road to diagnosis would be long, as there are around 400 different conditions with the same symptoms. Problem with google is that it just picks up the most popular searches, keywords, sites etc, so you wont get a true picture from it.
