NORDIC WALKING FOR FOOTDROP

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has tried this and whether it helps? I have PPMS and footdrop and walk slowly with an elbow crutch and wondered whether to try this to help walk. I currently have a SAFO and am waiting for an appointment to be assessed for FES. Thankyou.

I’ve had an electric foot lifter for 6/7 years, admittedly I don’t use it much due to it loosing effect after about 300 yards and the pad fitting to the left of my left knee has got to be exact or it doesn’t work at all. There’s 3 leads, one is a heel pad switch that’s on an insole of your shoe, a sticky pad just to the left of my shin bone and the other sticky pad to the side of my knee. the main unit clips onto my waist trouser belt.

I’ve never tried Nordic walking but there’s a lot to be said for ‘use it or lose it’ and I have a friend that does it and it seems a very sociable thing to do if you find a good group. I’ve been using an FES unit for 12 years and I don’t think I’d still be walking without it, it’s an absolute godsend.

wish I`d been offered FES

Thank you
