Hi all im just looking for some advice about what to expect at nuerology appointment. I will give you a little history about myself and symptoms im 38 a mum to 3 great kids and have a fantastic husband.Last may i woke up and had pins and needles in my feet as the day went on it spread to my hand then up to my face all on left handside i got scared so went to out of hours the doctor there did a few tests and thought vitamin b12 defiency told me to get an appountment with my own gp and get bloodwork done. Went to my gp surgery and tbh the gp made me feel as tho was all in my head so left know further forward. Fast forward to end of jan this year woke up to pins and needles in hand and foot and as the weeks have gone my hand goes completely numb and last week my left eye only way to describe is has a shadow and the exhaustion is really bad so i made a doctors appointment and went on monday i told her all my symptoms she did test likes push her hands squeeze her hands and also checked my reflexs in my legs which she said there was no reaction in left leg and left arm isnt as strong as my right she wanted me to get bloods done and said she is refering me to nuerology as she suspects MS i thought she would have waited till blood results. I also got my eyes checked and the health and nerves are all good but the peripheral vision were is said the shadow is theres something there and shes sending results to gp.sorry for rambling hopefully i make some sense.

Hi there

Did you actually get the blood work done? When I had my first Neurologist consult I had not. So he just wrote a letter back to my GP requesting blood work be completed. The remainder of the session he did basic coordination and reflex tests. He also arranged for me to have a brain MRI

kind regards

Jonathan

Hi yeah i had my bloods done on tuesday just waiting on results hopefully be back tomoz or monday and thanks for your reply

Hiya. At my first appointment it was just giving the neuro an overview of my symptoms. Then he did some tests on reflexes, strength, balance, etc. Then he just sent me for an MRI and Nerve conduction tests. Hope this helps  Stacey

Hi and welcome to th Forum! My first appointment was similar to those above - gave him details of my symptoms, reflex etc. tests, and then sent for a brain and spinal MRI. Hopefully, your GP will send a copy of your blood test results to your neurologist, but you could always pick up a copy beforehand from your GP’s surgery. Wishing you lots of good luck with your appointment. xx

Hi Vicr, I am in a similar position, however I have had an emergency mri done as I’ve started having seizures which my doctor thinks is related to my other symptoms and advised yesterday there’s a strong probability of MS and he needs it confirmed but I’ve not seen a neurologist yet. My GP is only telling me what he thinks but I just don’t know. My blood has been done and my mri so I guess I’ll be ready for the neurologist?
