New to the forum think I might have MS

Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice as I think I may have MS. For about 6 years now I have experienced chronic fatigue and I literally can’t do anything. I have developed lots more symptoms over the years including muscle pain balance problems tremor muscle spasms and now I have weird numbness and tingling in my hands and my foot. I don’t know if I am being a hypochondriac but it’s driving me crazy doctors do nothing to help me get a diagnosis they just give me lots if tablets which make me more tired. Can anyone give me advice on how to handle my doc appointment? Thanks Ashleigh

HI Ashleigh

It’s hard to say what the best course of action is. There are many, many illnesses which ‘mimic’ MS - which is why it is so hard to diagnose.

I think your first step should be to ask for your GP to do some blood tests. Things like anaemia, and Vit B12 deficiency can cause all sorts of problems. Vit B12 deficiency can cause many neurological symptoms alone.

It can be difficult when your symptoms are ‘invisible’, to get people to take you seriously. It can make you feel like a hypochodriac, but it’s your body at the end of the day, and when something is wrong, you know better than anyone else.

Be firm with GP about testing etc, but try not to mention MS too much, often doctors don’t like to feel that you are self-diagnosing. Unfortunately, Dr Google can bring out the worst in us all.

I really hope you get some answers soon
