New to MS

Im new to MS and have had a mri 1 year ago then i had a lumber puncture test then a aep test. i have been back to see the neuroligist and she has shown me the mri and there are several small white dots and further up there is to bigger white sections. she has told me its demyelination and she thinks it is MS and is sending me for another mri and fowarding me onto the MS clinic.

Is there anyother reasons i might have these white sections other than MS?

I also suffer from crohns as well and have read that there could be a link between the two, is this right?

thanks for any advise in advance.

Hi Stephen

As you’ve been told, it could be MS, but maybe not. There’s really not much else any of us can say. It’s flipping hard waiting for the next test(s) which could give you a more definitive answer, and if it is MS, then some drugs to hopefully ward off relapses.

The connection to Crohns is that both are auto-immune disorders, i.e. where your own immune system can’t tell the difference between an alien invader to your system and your own body. It’s just that with MS, the attacks are on the myelin which normally protects the nerves in your central nervous system and with Crohns, it’s your gastrointestinal system that is under attack.

I hope you don’t have too long to wait for your next MRI and a clearer picture of what’s wrong.
