I joined and introduced myself a long time ago and it’s only taken until now to get the results of my MRI. I was sent a letter no real explanation or face to face/telephone appt. I have to have another lumber puncture and follow up MRI in a few months but I’m so confused by the terminology- I dare not google!
It said I had some unspecific white matter changes. One of the lesions suggested an inflammatory condition. There was also a possible lesion on my C5 but the picture wasn’t clear.
Can anyone help with what it means or would I be wrong to contact my GP or neurologist to get a better understanding. I don’t want to be a pushy patient but the wording did alarm me a little!
White matter changes ‘could’ mean sclerosis on the brain, your medical team won’t commit to a diagnosis until they know more.
The spinal imaging sounds pretty conclusive that there is sclerosis there.
Your results certainly don’t out rule conditions such as MS but I’m no doctor and there are other conditions and reasons. The fact you’re here means you have an suspicion of what it might be.
Do you have a lumbar puncture scheduled?
Hi and thank you for the reply it’s much appreciated. I did some research when I first started having symptoms nearly a year ago now. At the time it sounded like it could be MS but I was leaning towards damage done by either my epidural (C-section) or the lumber puncture I had to rule out IH. The neurologist was convinced it was migraines but I don’t get severe headaches.
I’m waiting on an appointment for another lumbar puncture and follow up MRI
