New Symptoms

Been diagnosed about 18 months. My symptoms have remained quite stable until January of this year.

My right hand side is affected. It is now affecting my left side and also my arms. Nothing too dramatic, I have PPMS.

Could this possibly indicate new lesions? I only ask as I’m meeting my MS nurse for the first time on Monday!! And am wondering if I should ask for an MRI.

Thanks

Sally

Hi Sal, yes I would mention it, as she will indicate if an MRI is needed to see if any new lesions are hovering. Best wishes Boudsx

If you want to start

Yes exactly I failed the criteria last year for “O” as I had no new lesions. Are new symptoms a sign of new lesions?

An MRI might provide evidence of disease activity, so must be a good place to start.

Thanks whammel. Yes I met all of the above apartment from new lesions. It was a weird feeling as I was disappointed I didn’t get the drug but really pleased there were no new lesions!

I think I might do a new post. I know everyone is different but on average is there a correlation between new symptoms and new lesions?

I had exactly the same feelings, Gloves - disappointed but yet pleased there are no new lesions. However, I have got a few more symptoms and a slight worsening of others.

Not sure how helpful this is, but there is a theory that smouldering MS goes on all the time and doesn’t get picked up by MRI. This subject has been covered a few times on the Barts Blog.

I was told by my neuro and MS nurse that new symptoms didn’t always mean new lesions, they told me that you can have these and progress from the exisiting ones.

So visited my MS nurse this morning, who was lovely, and yes Greenhouse she did say that new symptoms didn’t necessarily mean new lesions. She’s going to speak to my neurologist this week and see what he thinks.

Glad to help, I am sligtly amazed that they got it right, as I don’t always trust my nurse, or neuro.
