New here + care support at home

Hello,

Im new to this forum, I’m seeking some advice and support and thought id try this out.

My parent has advanced primary progress MS. Are there any companies or organisations who offer buttons that alert a care professional who can come over to help him get up if he has a fall? Ive done some research but most of the companies I’ve found seems to focus on elderly people. I’d like to find one that can support a person with MS, when he falls its sometimes really difficult to support him up and into his chair.

I’m seeking this out as we don’t always have the support at home to help him get up, and those of us who are there cant always manage.

If anyone has any advice on where to look for general support at home, a care worker for someone with MS to come over for a couple of hours a day that would be really helpful as well. We are not there yet but its something we need to look into soon.

Thank you

There use to be a system of a piper alarm, they wear either a wrist alarm button or a pendant alarm and if they fall to press the alarm and it alerts a handler who follows the first point of call, then onto the second point of call to assist up from the floor. Obviously if there’s only you, I believe they send people into assist . They use to have information at the hospital and I believe DIAL could assist, as they deal with assistive technology. In my area they also have a team of ambulance crews that assist the elderly up from the floor to save ambulances attending, and they are equipped with things like manga cushions that inflate one level at a time till they fully inflated then it’s like standing up from a chair. I hope this helps you and your family.
