Well i finally made contact today after being told yesterday to ring them again to be met with a sigh and yes its me speaking how can i help you , so i stated id like to attend a meeting and meet others and the reply was excellent if you find somewhere down there for a meeting place i will make sure it gets advertised and you can run it , im in shock as i was expecting something a little different as i dont know where to start , if this is how folks are treated i think its a poor show as surely not all groups are like this as i see theres a need for a group down here from what i saw & heard at the centre yesterday , i guess im just shocked at the response

Hi Poll hope your keeping okay , id like to help folks as its all ive ever done but tbh i wouldnt know where to start as i dont feel i know enough about the condition and folks needs etc who knows what the fuure may hold maybe when i have a better understanding
That does sound unhelpful, but I guess any group is only as good as its members make it. I take it there can’t be a huge demand for the social stuff, where you are? Did they say what the group does do, if it doesn’t host get-togethers, unless members care to arrange it themselves? I’m just wondering if it’s more of an information and advice network, rather than a social thing, or don’t they do much of that either?

Hi Tina yep the guy i 1st spoke withy said they do coffee mornings and have just had a caberet evening so i think they are fairly active i just think its a case of being too far down as they are 40 miles up the road from me , but the lady at the Merlin Centre said theres loads of folks in and around my area that travel up , hopefully things may change

you should find out where your nearest ms therapy centre is.
these places are fantastic. my nearest one is in manchester about 18 miles from me.
they have loads of therapies on offer and always keen to take on volunteers.
you will find what you’re looking for somewhere.

Hi again. A group meeting could just be a social outlet. If you wanted to try to get something going, just bear in mind access, toilets, parking and see if you can get a room for free, in an area folk can find easily. Sounds like the Merlin centre is ace.
Then if enough folk attend, maybe an ms nurse could come to see if anyone needs help, has questions whatever.

Hi poll yep looking at different options and a nice very appreciated message from Wendels stating what her group does which sounds perfect and something i may be able to acheive , i just dont wanna let anyone down , yep pol the merlin centre is great just unforunate that the oxygen therapy cylinders gave me a freakout when i looked hrough the window as memories came flooding back as was just like siting in the lifeboat but on the plus they offer loads off therapys which look good .
