Hi guys. Hope you are all well. I haven’t been diagnosed with MS. But would like a little advice from the group. Was wondering if any of my symptoms sound familiar to you. My GP has referred me to neurology but I’m waiting on an appointment. I am understandably worried and just that I’d asking those in the know. About a year ago my eyelid started twitching, as they do on occasions. This time though it lasted for about 6 weeks. I thought nothing of it. About a month later it came back. And has consistently twitched ever since. Since then I have noticed quite a few other muscles spasm. They are intermittent and only last a second or so. Every day I have some form of twitching somewhere, back of my legs, other face muscles, torso etc. I have also noticed very strange tingling sensations in my lips, nose and cheeks. Particularly when I’m resting in bed. I also on occasions get a weird tight dull but intense pain in my chest which comes and goes to. I used to be relatively active. Gym four times a week. But find I get tired very easily. Even after a good 8 hours sleep, im shattered. And commonly sleep for 3 hours or more in the afternoon on my days off. I have not however had any of the more common symptoms that seem to crop up when I google ms. I’m never dizzy. I don’t have eye sight problems, they have recently been checked. I don’t have numbness anywhere. Do any of my experiences fit in with this disease? Any thought greatly appreciated.
Hi,
It’s never a good idea to Google symptoms. There’s a very good reason why doctors spend 7 years learning how to diagnose illnesses and that’s because it takes that long to learn everything. This isn’t like reading tea leaves. It’s rather more important than that.
I would be very worried to read that anyone is giving medical opinions on this or any other site. I suggest you relax, don’t try to second guess bad news and wait for the neurology appointment. You may well be pleasantly surprised.
If you are unfortunate as to have MS you’ll get plenty of advice and chatty support then. But I hope you don’t have to.
Good luck,
Anthony
Yeah your right Anthony. Thanks for advice and reply. Mind in overdrive as per usual. Wait and see what comes of appointment. Hope this finds you well. Regards.
Hi.
I realise that you’re impatient to confront bad news head on, and that shows strength of character. A coward will bury their head in the sand and hope the problem goes away. Believe me, there are quite a few strong characters who contribute to this forum.
Health is one area where a strong person should put worries to one side and wait for the professionals to do their job. Any other approach is just as likely to cause illness as fix it.
Best wishes,
Anthony
