You should finish the course of steroids or at least phone ms nurse for advice Em. X
Hi Forsyth08
Unless you have been advised by your GP, you absolutely should complete your course of steroids.
The whole purpose of steroids is to reduce any inflammation that has developed during a relapse. They can be very effective and, generally, patients respond very well to them. How soon they take effect, depends on a) the steroid prescribed, b) the dosage prescribed, c) the site of inflammation. Normally, it takes a couple of days, but it can take longer.
That said, they don’t work for everyone with MS, unfortunately, so it’s a case of waiting for the relapse to tip over into remission.
Fingers crossed that you find some benefit from them.
Good luck

Traceyann is right, my neuro told me it can be instant or take 3 months to kick in, unfortunately steroids keeps you awake or if you are lucky you may get a few hours kip. That’s when you tape programmes on tv or watch them on catch up to keep those night hours of boredom at bay. The joys of steroids. Keep up with them because they will help you. All the best Gwyneth
