A report was on TV a few mins ago about the rise in the cases of MS in Scotland, linking it to the lack of sunlight.
They also advised giving children vitamin D.

What tv programme was it on please?
It was on the Grampian news Mrs H.
Oh. Ok. I’m not far away but too far to pick it up. I know there’s been some research into the apparant differences in ncdences of ms between northern England and Scotland, and southern England. Also the rate of ms diagnosis the further away from the equator that you live.
The area Im in and the village Im in have very high numbers, well over the national average.
Interesting. I take vit d and I know the dangers associated with sunbeds but it would be interesting to know how much vit d is generated by using one and how often may be beneficial. Also if the negatives outweigh any potential benefit. Or maybe those artificial sun lamps that SAD’s sufferers use??
The “SAD” lamps are definitely not the right wavelength to manufacture vitamin D. The wavelengths that do it are the same ones that cause tanning, so basically, if you can’t get a tan from it, you’re wasting your time trying to boost your vitamin D with it. Sunbed would work I think, but probably much safer just to take Vitamin D3 supplements, as many here already do.
