MS?..16 Yr old daughter lost eyesight week 8!

Hi, we are in the process of a diagnosis and my 16 Yr old daughter has lost her eye sight in right eye. We are now in week 8 with no change. Optha say eye is healthy, mri clear, just received an EP test appointment. She’s soooo fatigued currently. GCSEs looming in May and worried she won’t be at her best. We’ve seen a neuro and can’t find an answer. Wondering if her eyesight will return. 8 weeks is a long time. She’s had headaches, tremors so I am adding it all up to possible MS. I just want to help her and feel if we have a diagnosis we can deal with it. It’s the not knowing that is difficult. Has anyone experienced the loss of eyesight and all returned to normal or am I over worried?

Hi, no wonder you are worried. Your lass shouldn’t have to be going through this. never had eye problems myself, but I have read about so many and they ALL regain their sight, although it may not be 100%…but good results mostly. Sometimes it can take a long time to get a diagnosis…hang in there and good luck for the GCSEs…is school aware? Maybe they`ll let her sit the exams another time, if she isn’t up to it…xx Bouds xx

I was diagnosed recently because of an optic neuritis episode. How ever, my MRI did show lesions and spinal tap confirmed the MS. On the brighter side my vision came back 100%. I can see clear as day. Im am praying the same for your daughter.

Hello

It is a worrying time. I hope I can give you some positive feedback.

The same thing happened to me at age 19. Optic neuritis in both eyes

but especially bad in right eye. My vision in right eye returned but left me

marked. Most people return to full sight . Your daughter may notice a difference

but will in most cases be ok and manageable.

Ms is frightening to hear. In most cases now especially with all the treatments

ms can be controlled and you can live a very productive life. I would not be

concerned as mri is clear . I hope daughter has a speedy recovery and deal

with ms if it shows it’s head. It might never. But if it does there is so much

treatment and hope that it will in most cases be ok.
