MRI tomorrow and confused about some things x

Hello everyone Hope you are all well. I have an MRI tomorrow and I am just wondering how long is it usually before results do you get them quite quickly if they find something. Also if they didn’t find anything would that be that or would I get to see the neuro again and look for other possible causes? The thing is as time has passed my symptoms have persisted but new and worse ones are leading my GP to believe That perhaps this is a rheumatology based illness. I have Antiphospholipid syndrome and Raynauds aswell what are your thoughts on the neuro v rheumy issue. Sorry for the long one xxxxx

Hello Evie1

I waited about six weeks for neuro appointment following scan but already knew my results via my gp after a couple of weeks.

I have psoriatic arthritis as well as the ms…I do get confused about which condition is causing which problem.

Its probably best just to wait for scan results and see what they show.

Good luck

Oh thanks very much I will give my GP a call after about a week and see if he knows anything just want to know because the quicker this is done the sooner I can be referred to a rheumy if nothing shows. I haven’t had a long a wait as many on here only 2 half months so far but I am off work I can’t tell them what’s wrong they are coming out doing home visit and I just want to be able to tell them something and make my plans to return as i miss it so so much. Beside that I just want to get well one way or another I want to be my old self feel like I have dissapeared somewhere… How are you doing ok ? Xxx

Can I just offer a word of caution Evie. I have a good relationship with my gp. She was the one that ended up telling me My scan showed ms lesions…I went on to be diagnosed officially…this was last august. It was actually a bit of a shock to us both…I was referred, initially to neuro, due to chronic headaches/migraine.

Its up to you though Evie. Also, not all GP’s are wiling to access this information to patients.

Take care

Thanks again for your advice my GP has been very good to me throughout all of this and many times reassured me that this is not in my head as I seem to be falling apart at the seams. He also knows how much I am desperate to go to work again soon. I can only ask and will respect his decision as to whether he will discuss or not but worth a try xxx

Hi that is interesting. It has been 3 weeks since my MRI and so I rang my surgery on Fri just to see if they might have them, and was told they wouldn’t receive the results and I would have to wait until I receive a letter from my consultant. I’m thinking it’s probably fine as it is obviously not a priority. Have they fobbed me off? xx

No selby, I don’t think so. My gp accessed my hospital records via her computer…maybe your surgery doesn’t have that system.

Selby ask to speak to a gp rather than the receptionist x

My gp doesn’t get the MRI result they go to the referring doctor so mine was the neurologist, and as my gp practice isn’t on the hospital system they can’t access the notes from the hospital, so I have to wait for the neurology appointment.

Ah ok. My gp is linked to the hospital x

Thanks for that. I rang my consultants’ secretary to see roughly how long it should take and she said they hadn’t even received my results yet. I didn’t think it would take that long for the radiologist to read the scan. I guess more waiting.
