I posted last week about this but I’ve forgotten the thread so I thought I’d start a new one.
I’m swapping my Motability car early because I now need a WAV. I’ve only had the current car 1 year. I was told by Motability that when you surrender early you don’t get the good condition bonus, but that’s all they said.
I was told by the dealer that you can claim the pre-pay deposit back pro rata under these circumstances. I just called Motability and yes –apparently it’s all automatic, 28 days after you surrender the old vehicle they send you a cheque.
It’s not going to be a huge amount of money in my case because I don’t choose expensive cars with big deposits but every penny helps.
I think this will be of interest to people who are worried about loosing their car due to the vagaries of PIP. You won’t loose all your deposit – just pro rata. (Providing it works if you loose benefit but I don’t see why it shouldn’t)
