Migraines

I dont suffer from migraines normally, maybe one a year if that, but this past week I have had 3 in 5 days and dont know what to do. They started very suddenly, but what was different from other times is my right side of face, tongue, mouth went numb, then after half hour followed problems seeing. I managed to catch it early enough to stop it progressing but has left me feeling really odd and it has happened daily. I know Im still not feeling right from its affects but wondering if anyone has any experience with migraines actually being a relapse? I have RRMS. This time of year is probably not going to be easy to contact my MS nurse so thought Id ask here. I will of course see my doctor if they continue. Thanks Heather

Hi.

Is is possible they separate to your MS? I used to get migraines as a child, but thankfully have ‘grown-out’ of them - except for christmas! I tend to suffer with them at this time of year - Over-indulging in the wrong foods brings them on in a slurry for me (I usually try to avoid chocolate, caffeine, certain fruits, certain wines). Not trying to trivialise - just thought I’d mention it?

I always sometimes get tingly and numb body parts and visual disturbances when I get a particularly bad migraine. My gp told me this was called ‘migraine with aura’. But if you’ve never had an aura with your migraine before, and they feel different to they way they have in the past, then you should probably get it checked out and definitely mention in to your ms nurse.
