It is with great sadness that I’ve been informed (as were all of Lisa’s patients in the community) that Lisa Black MS nurse specialist for the Worthing area of a West Sussex has died after her second bout with cancer.
Lisa did a great job, she supported so many people with MS as well as their carers. She went the extra mile for many of us, standing shaking a can, collecting money for the MS Society, hosting meetings in the evenings as well as through the day. She coordinated a women’s group, a men’s group and a carers / partners group. She learned about all the new treatments and was instrumental in many people gaining access to these as they came about. She liaised on our behalf with other medical professionals, she assisted with benefit claims and did her utmost to do the very best job possible.
Lisa was always busy, always scribbling notes in her huge diary to remind herself of what to do and when. She never minded getting covered with cat hairs (always a danger in my house) or the cat getting into her bag, playing with her pens etc, etc. She had a sense of humour, ready to laugh at herself, others and the ludicrous nature of the merciless disease we all live with. She was positive and stood with us as we travelled the MS road.
Lisa was a hard working mother as well as a nurse and will be greatly missed by her children and husband. She fought a brave fight against cancer, we all thought she had won, but it was not to be.
Thank you Lisa. X
