Hi all,
I have RRMS and over the years had several periods of lhermitte’s sign in my neck usually with other symptoms such as numb face one one side.
In july i thought i was having a relapse as i felt awful, more tired than ever, fell over a bit and lhermitte’s was back but not in my neck, its mid spine and is still there. I contacted my ms nurse at the time and she didn’t seem to know what lhermitte’s even was which is a worry and brushed off the possibility of a relapse.
Issue now is the mid spine tingle is still there and both my feet are numb most of the day. I have completed 1 year of mavenclad and due the next the first week of november. I have an appointment before then then but its with said nurse so not very comforting.
Could this be a relapse untreated or natural progression? Should i stamp my very numb feet at this appointment until someone helps me? What do you all think?
Hi,
It’s sounding like a relapse you should push to get an MRI scan (brain, spine cervical and spine thoracic). It’s very strange that your MS nurse does not know what Lhermitte’s sign is since it affects most people with MS. As you have been on mavenclad for a year they should automatically give you an MRI appointment to see whether the medication is working and has stopped relapses and more damage accumulation. I can understand it’s very frustrating that nothing is being done but you really need to advocate for yourself and annoy them because from my experience they really don’t care. I hope you get the appropriate help soon and don’t need to stamp your very numb feet hahah
Best of luck
Hanna
Hi hanna, thank you for the reply. I did speak with the ms nurse and saw the consultant. She says she doesnt think its a relapse but had upped my amitriptyline and i have an mri later this week for thoracic spine. Fingers crossed no lesions
