Lemtrada experiences

I’m starting Lemtrada in March, after reading on various forums of peoples experiences i’m bloody terrified, would be grateful to hear people’s stories

Hi, you shouldn’t be terrified its just a new treatment after all, all treatments have side-effects.

I had my lemtrada treatment in Dec 2016 (12th-16th) and I thought it’s a good idea to document my experience on a blog for other people that are considering this treatment here: https://msjourneyblog.wordpress.com/

Also, I’m a bit lazy and don’t want to write the same thing over and over again if someone asks “how it went?”

I’ll try to update it perriodically with some follow-ups.

Hope that’s useful.

George

I had a crazy, itchy rash that came and went and was helped by anti-histamines (how I wished I’d shaved my legs before!!) , and felt worse as the week went on - sitting around for five days makes you feel very sluggish, drugs or not. My sleep was disturbed by the steroids so I was pretty worn out by the end of it. However, within a few days I was feeling back to (MS) normal (it won’t magically remove any existing symptoms). I took it easy for a couple of weeks, got used to being careful with food and am now feeling ok. Get ready with books / films downloaded to tablet / headphones, and treats you enjoy. If my hospital is anything to go by, they take very good care of you!

I did some ‘prehab’ exercise to get myself into the best shape I could be for a week of doing nothing  I also got some comfy cotton clothes to wear - in a bid to avoid getting too hot and sweaty. I’d aim for nervous anticipation rather than terror - plan what you can to get a bit more control. You’re being brave! Good luck xs
