Hi my partner has recently been told he may have ms although this has still to be 100% diagnosed. He was taken into hospital 2weeks ago with a suspected stroke as he lost all feeling down his left hand side face arm and leg. Initially he was given ct scan and scan of his neck arteries which both came back clear. he was then given an mri scan of the head which came back with lesions on both sides more active on one side causing the paralysis. He was given a course of strong steriods over 3days and a lumber puncture was performed to do further tests. He is now home after spending 11days in hospital as he has got his mobility back although still a bit unsteady. The neurologist has told him that 3 test came back clear although they are 95% certain its ms they are running further tests. He asked him questions re his medical history and if he had any vaccinations recently which he had for working offshore called black water vaccinations as his job involved working with radioactive toxic waste. Neurologist has mentioned Demyelinating disease and has requested an mri scan to be done of his whole spine we are just waiting on appointment for that. I feel my partner has been sent home none the wiser given no proper diagnosis and no medication. I would just like to hear if anyone has gone through anything similar and any feedback from anyone would be much appreciated
Hi, well as the neuro is still doing tests and waiting for resuts, he doesnt feel ready to give a solid diagnosis of MS or anything else. Hence no medication yet either.
Sit tight, hang on in there and it will come.
luv Polx
As poll as said it will come I was in a very similar position as your partner last year, suspected ms due to paralysis down right side, vision problems etc… Had endless tests & mri’s and eventually got positive DX after 10 months, it does seem a long winded process but my neuro said " have to be sure " Take care Gray
Thanks Pol and Gray I know it may take time its just the unknown and what the future holds for him thats a little worrying. He is 45 and has always been a very fit guy got a new job working offshore 10 months ago and was loving it and then bang!! overnight. He has got mobility back and is walking slowly but surely progressing better each day. Any info from anyone would be much appreciated.
Best Regards
Sharon
