Hello,
not it been in here for a while and I am undiagnosed with anything let alone MS. My gp thinks there is something neurological going on and has referred me back to neuro.
over the ,sat few weeks I have encountered increasing fatigue, which for the last 12 months hasn’t been too bad. My balance has become and issue again, and I developed a new numb area on my left hand.
last week, I started with a burning sensation on my neck, and slight numbness. This spread to my left jawline and crept up to my left side of face and back of head up to left side of scalp. Today, it’s quite sore to touch my scalp, so brushing my hair was tender.
my question is, does this sound like trigeminal neuralgia? Or could it be something different.
I am am waiting on my neuro appointment which could be between four and six weeks away.
many thanks

I have suffered from Trigeminal Neuralgia for 3 years and my pain is very specific to the left side. The nerve that is affected branches off into 3 sections that go towards the eye, the nose and the jaw. There is numbness generally along with a feeling of electric zaps. I also find that my gums hurt a lot, almost like having a cold in them and toothache. I don’t like the left side of my face to be touched and it hurts when there is a draught on it. This is on a daily basis but then when the proper pain strikes you know about it. It comes in waves and can last up to 3 hours. The electric zaps get stronger, it feels like a tonne weight is on the left side of my face and a knife is being thrust into my cheek. It’s not called “The Suicide Pain” for nothing!!
It’s hard to say if what you are suffering from is TN because there are many other things that have similar symptoms, including migraines. It is possible to have a certain type of migraine without the headache part but experience the same symptoms you are currently having. Are you able to speak to your GP about this if your neuro appointment isn’t for a while?
Take care
xx
Thanks for that.
yes I could make an appointment as its going to be at least four weeks if not more until my neurologist appointment. Will give them a ring. Anything is worth a try. Xx
