Hope that you are all doing as well as you personally can?
I have woken up this morning and I am in pain around my midriff. I can’t breathe in properly as it becomes so painful. I am moving carefully so as not to aggravate the situation. I do have two herniated discs, one lower back, one in neck area. However, this pain is definately around my middle. So. You guessed it! Is this the old MS hug one asks? I have had something similar in the past, but only for seconds. This has been all morning so far. I know you are not doctors, but your thoughts would be interesting.
Hi I have had it a couple of times and the last time lasted for two days. It felt like a very tight belt being pulled in around my chest crushing it . I have to admit that on the second day ( sunday) I phoned NHS direct just in case they had any advice and I had to talk them out of sending an ambulance in case it was a heart attack, but promised to go to my GP the next day where they did an ECG (this was as expected, normal)
By the way I only refused the ambulance as this was the second day I had this and we all were very sure it wasn’t my heart, I would not advise someone else to do that.

Yes it does sound like the ‘ms hug’. Mine lasted well over a year when I first started with ms. It was like a vice around my middle, I used to prop myself as I felt my muscles werent working. Also affected breathing, definitely thought it was to do with my lungs at first, then got told it was part of ms symptoms. Felt like I was being squeezed, not nice at all.
It should go of its own accord. not nice but you are not alone.
