Hello anon

Yes, its incontinence…I can understand why you feel embarrassed but I promise you, its happened to plenty of people on here…including me

Mention it to your GP. He/she really needs to know. I can assure you, they hear things like this all the time, so just bite the bullet and let them know.

If you prefer, you could wait and let the neuro know rather than your GP. Although, neuro will write to your GP, so he/she will be informed either way.

Take care

yes, it’s happened to me too. if you have one, you could tell your ms nurse, again your gp and neuro would be informed, but they could direct you to a continence nurse. i’ve been to one and they were great.

take care, you’re very definately not alone.

Hi - if you phone your nearest big hospital and ask to be put through to the continence clinic you should be able to self refer. Yes it’s embarrassing but my continence nurse was fantastic. She had heard it all before and totally put me at my ease. I was going for urinary incontinence. Had to drink absolutely loads. Whilst changing I was absolutely desperate with no loo in site. Couldn’t hold it and ended up weeing in the dirty laundry basket!!! Now that was embarrassing but funny now!!! Good luck Min xx

thanks for your replies, sorry its taken me time to get back. love the story min!

i am so glad i am not alone, i havent told anyone and have been mortified. i dont really want to mention this to the gp as i already feel like they think i am a hypnochondriac nutbag, esp cos at my last appointment I got quite upset and ended up telling them all about every symptom I have had, and since it has only happened once i can just imagine them writing it off.

having said that just remembered that went through a stage a couple of years ago when I kept getting marks, and told gp who sent me to the bowel consultant. he sent me for loads of tests and in the end decided that it was down to previous haemhorroids and not being able to wipe, so I had a procedure to tidy that up. as part of the investigations they did this horrible test where they shoved xray dyed porridge stuff up my bum, and then xrayed me pooing it (not my best moment - lol). Apparently they noticed something a bit unusual - called anismus (how can i remember this but not what i had for breakfast!) which meant that a muscle which was supposed to relax when I poo was staying tensed up. but they didnt seem think anything of it, and I just left as soon as possible - lol makes me wonder whether this is linked.

I have and ophthamlogy appointment soon, so maybe best to wait and see whether they are going to back the neuro side of things before mentioning this to anyone.
