Im missing the old forum are you?

thankyou verona but still not the same friendly website that it used to be a few have said its clinical and i really have to agree , no soul ( not from the users i must add) just the cold nature of the site.

i hate this new site every time i try to log in something goes wrong.i don,t use it as much i use to.i thought the ms society was about making life easier for us not harder. why can,t we have our old site back,we should start a petition!! all the best mistymoo xx

Sorry to buck the trend but I actually prefer it because all the posts follow on from each other which is logical and much easier to follow. I also like the quote facility, being able to preview your post before you commit to it, the smilies and the fact you can change the size of the font and colour if you wish to. Would like avatars back but I assume that will be fixed. :stuck_out_tongue:

Simple answer: yes. Colour, people, side conversations (might have been confusing for some, but they were fun!), being able to reply to individuals, simplicity,… :? :frowning:  :frowning: :? Karen x

You summed up the place very well. This place is cold, clinical, complicated and well never provide people with what they need.ALL IN THE NAME OF PROGRESS that we didnot ask for or deserve. I hope the celebrations for “A job well done” don’t last to long in the Kremlin, and the axe is weilded and people are held accountable for the misery the transition has doubtedly caused a lot of people. I’m glad I left the MSS last year and I’m not paying towards the wages of these computer geniuses

NO, not at all. The old system was unbelievably old fashioned and the method of nesting posts made following conversations unbelievably difficult. It isn’t perfect by any means but at least its now a recognised piece of software that can be regularly updated and new functionality added.

Yes agree. It’s the difference between a cosy living-room where you know you’ll catch up with old friends… and this, a sterile hospital room where only a few friends are and somehow seem a long way away. I’m hoping ‘mark 2’ is more friendly and lots of our mates return. Pat x

I agree…don’t enjoy visiting any more…it’s very clinical and doesn’t seem as friendly…maybe a subtle cull…!?

Whoever designed this new site certainly did not take into consideration how much the old set up suited our needs. Yes, l do miss it - and l miss all the regulars. lt became a big part of our lives. Most of us are not that competent using computers - and the old site was so straightforward. l have discovered that it is easier to just google mssociety forum - and l have registered under a new username as the old one kept getting refused. Even when my username was showing automatically under the part where you type your name in - and password remembered automatically also. Still, l got ‘username/password not excepted’ Hate all these silly ‘smilies’ as well. And how do you reply to individual posts - l find l can only reply the the ‘Thread’ lts turned me into a ‘grumpy old woman’.

…oh thank you…I did feel very lonely…

It’s pants, and not nice sexy Kylie pants either. The old forum was designed with disabled users in mind, this one hasn’t been. I’m shocked at how much of a c0ck-up it’s been and still it’s not sorted. Why the heck not? I can’t understand why it’s been such a mess,I spoke to a relative who designs websites and he can’t believe just how wrong they’ve got it.It’s either gross incompetence or a total disreguard for the disabilities MS can cause. Or maybe that was the plan all along? To get rid of those of us who have damaged optic nerves, damaged brains, maybe we don’t fit the Society’s picture of MS? The MSRC boards are clearly designed to be used by people with MS,and there is only Squiffy running their boards alone. It puts the MS Society with their fancy offices and large workforce on large salaries to shame. All the knowledge, compassion, support, fun, the entertainment, even the arguements, all lost now and heaven knows how many people have needed all that support and aren’t getting it now because of the webteam.Disgraceful,it’s utterly disgraceful. The old board was my social life,my support network and so much more.I hope we can get it back,I really do. Sorry I’ve gone on but I’ve been on holiday for the last 2 weeks and actually had hopes this would all have been sorted by now,so I’m peed right off,as we say up north,xxjo[b]/b]

Hi Guys Have to agree with everyone else, even though I have only been using the site since early this year, it had become an important link to the ms world for me. One of the most annoying things for me is not seeing who starts a post. As many have commented on, it is weird not to see familiar names. Oh well let’s hope some positive changes happen soon? Maxine

ORIGINAL AUTHOR Go to Board Index (top left) Select from (top, centre of screen just below ‘View your posts’ icon) View unanswered posts View unread posts View new posts View active topics Which ever option you choose you will get a list of those posts or topics with the The title of the topic The author of the topic And the start date The number of replies etc. The name of the last person to reply along with the date of that reply and which forum the topic belongs to. V

It is different, it does seem ‘brighter’ visually which I do find something of a challenge BUT… it will only work if we all try to make it home like the old site was. When I joined that I found it confusing and somewhat alien. I felt the same when I (finally) got on here too. I am giving it my best though., as there isn’t much else I can do- I do miss those who have left; but from comments I saw on the old board from time to time from ‘old hands’ who dropped by and complained they didn’t know anyone the idea of people moving on is not new to see folks go although it is sad not to hear from people who we found simpatico! Technology always moves on, we have to try and keep up or we’ll end up being the only person in town with a TV that can’t receive any signal 'cos of switchover! Clare

Thats just how i feel Jo, i wont be on that much now,i used to love the old site, i know things have to change with the times, but i think its been done with no thought for us very much at all, if any. jaki xx Sorry I’ve gone on but I’ve been on holiday for the last 2 weeks and actually had hopes this would all have been sorted by now,so I’m peed right off,as we say up north,xxjo[b]/b]

It’s a shame because the layout of this forum is so much better, but it could be more user friendly with a few tweaks. The main thing for me (as it is for lots of you) is that you can’t see the original author just by looking at the thread. I know several went back to the old board but you can no longer log in there so can only read posts already on there. I’m sure it shouldn’t be too difficult to add a column with the post author - most other forums with similiar layout to this do it. Hope things improve with this Dawn

For those of us who crave to see the initial author of a post the easiest way I have found is Go to your Homepage Select Forum Profile Select Board Preferences And chose Edit Display Options You can chose whether to have the messages displayed from first to last or last to firsy ascending/descending Hope this helps you Clarexxx

last to first!

Pat, you’ve put it into words better than I could. I also find the brightness and whiteness hard on my vision. Jacqui xx

hi , i do agree the white back ground is uncomfortable on our eyes well most anyway. maybe there could be an option like with sites aimed at disabled people ect lol to have a button that can change text size, and colur like black, yellow as easier to read. im going to still hang here for a little longer too see how mark 2 site performs but i do think its not just me thats fed up hear. the community spirit seems to have dwindled and i dont even have my old emails with buddies on any more or buddie list. its so sad and newbies sadly will get this as yes most of us oldies will not always be here to help x ms soc is our soc and it is funded and set up for us so please make it more acessable thankyou x moo
