I need advice please

I have developed trigeminal neuralgia and I will be having my second operation. I’m thinking of having the trigeminal nerve killed/cut I know about the side effects does anyone have any advice?

Hello there, the only advice I can give is:

If venturing into the unknown. Boost the Immune system with some healthy options & stay positive.

Red Grapes for fluids, some form of menthol oil to open the breathing channels & a desert island disc of sounds.

Things always work out when you want then too.

I know from someone who had cochlea implant which I think necessarily entailed large risk of damaging trigeminal nerve that damage to that nerve can cause major problems.

Ive never heard of the nerve being cut.

TNA site says “Invasive surgery is Microvascular Decompression (MVD) which involves opening the skull and lifting the offending blood vessel(s) away from the nerve, or Internal Neurolysis (IN) which involves “combing” the nerve”"

The site doesnt seem to mention cutting the nerve.

For whats its worth my advice would be to think long and hard before having that important nerve cut.

Eeeek I don’t know what you are on about and I am to tired to Google it so no from me

Don

Hi derekch, i suffer with trigeminal neuralgia so i know what you are going through’ i developed T.N about 15 months ago and i can honestly say i have never had pain like that in all my life (and i have had a bit of pain over the years beleive me). When i was at my worst i would have had my xxxx removed if it would have taken away the pain, after different medication and thinking that i would definately undergo surgery, i was told that surgery would not be considered untill all options had been tried, thankfully a medication that eventually worked was Carbamezapine. This medication i still take which keeps my T.N at bay.

It’s a horrible condition and i would not wish this on my worst enemy.Whatever you choose i wish you well.
