How many times do you see your consultant

I’ve just had my first 12 month appointment… truthfully, I have no idea when I’ll see him next as we wrapped up the appointment quite quickly cos I needed the loo (damn bladder!) so 'll see what his letter says when it comes.

I was dx PPMS at the end of January and my neuro said he’d see me again in 6 months’ time. I had a letter from the hospital last week with an appointment in about 3 weeks’ time. Bang on schedule!

Only seen mine once he is very swift with tests had MRI then 2 weeks later vep and LP booked for next week :frowning: but I am ok I’m sort of used to it and just prefare not to leave house unless I go hospital I feel safe here

I’ve seen half a dozen or so neurologists, split between MK Oxford and Northampton. After having chemo for lymphoma in 2010 they found a swelling on my spinal cord but it took them til this January to finally decide it was ppms. Since then I’ve seen my latest MK neuro once, and a rehab neurologist in Northampton once, which is where I also hooked up with my ms nurse. She’s great, I can ring her and get advice. I’ll continue to see the MK guy once a year from now on, but I have the rehab neuro to go to if required. He specialises in what to do after dx.

Hi Steve I have ppms only got diagnosis 12wks ago my world is upside down at main but I have a good neuro and have seen him twice now and got an apptmt in 10 wks. You hang in there you’re not alone mate. Rob

Iv seen a neurologist twice since being diagnosed 3 years ago, and last year being told because i have PPMS there is nothing they can do for me and to go away and get on with it, was in the office for less than 5 minutes.

Hi all

Thank you all for the replies I visited the hospital and saw my neurologist who has prescribed me Provigil for my fatigue and Gabapentin Medreich for my nerve pain and was wondering if any one is on it and how you find them do they help

Many thanks

Steve

Try living in York, here the consultant and MS nurse discharge you after each appointment, so if you want to see them again you have to go via your GP.

I did ask if I’m been discharged does that mean I’m cured, give the consultant his due he said it was done to make the hospitals figures look good.
