How do you get your wheelchair in and out of the car?

Hi all

As said in the title how do you get your manual wheelchair in and out of the car? I was thinking of getting a roof box hoist bt not sure.

If you have a mobility car speak to them, they will advise and in some cases fund a hoist.

I got a roofbox and it’s the best decision I have made with this illness. I previously had a hoist but was struggling to use it whilst standing. Now the chair just drops at my door by the touch of a button. You have to change your car coz they don’t allow you to put adaptations on to an existing scheme car. But, it wasn’t a problem and they return any deposit you put down on the original car, pro rats,

Hi my car is a WAV…A Citreon Berlingo. I drive up the ramp and am tied down. If you are thinking of changing your car at all, I highly recommend this motor.

Haven’t had any sneaky comments that I remember, but in the summer of 2018 we went to a beer garden, the wife found an empty table near the back, I staggered to the table with a glass of wine and a half of beer. I staggered past a table with young ladies, some sniggered and thought I was drunk. I was about to explain, but decided not to bother and at least it stops them gossiping about someone else.
