Is this another MS symptom? Been happening for a while, but just been in the bath, washed my hair and most of it seems to be in the water! Or is it stress? Had my hair cut abit back as it had got long and thought hair loss was because it was not in good condition. But still loads of my hair brush each day. My hair is fine but lots of it, don’t think I have any bald spots, no one has said anything, try to spend as little time as possible looking in mirrors. I have been ill for a year now, still unDx, and seem to have aged a lot in the last year.
Are you more cold and tired than usual and putting on weight? One of the most usual reasons for hair falling out is under active thyroid. The additional symptoms could easily be put down to MS and not realised as another disorder. Might be a good idea to have your thyroid levels checked. Stress can also make hair fall out but you need to make sure there isn’t another reason.

Could it be down to side effects of any medication you might be taking? I’ve noticed my hair falling out since I took methylprednisolone 2 months ago and it also falls out when I take antihistamines.

I find that my hair falls out twice a year by the handfuls for a month or 2 then settles again
Hi everyone
I always lost quite a bit of hair as i too have fine hair but quite a lot of it. Since being diagnosed with MS i have noticed an increase in the amount of hair i am losing but i do not have bald spots and it isnt coming out in clumps. I also have slight dermatitus on the back of my head which my MS nurse told me isnt linked to MS but could be down to stress as i have only been diagnosed for 5months. I have spoken to my hairdresser & changed my shampoo to try to sort out the dermatitus. I also felt scared stiff that i was losing my hair and thought that would be worse than being diagnosed with MS but in recent weeks i have tried to think about it less. I am hoping that trying to forget about it and worry less will hopefully help.

THYROID!! Have it checked. Also side effects of any meds you may take. And get copies of thyroid results. NEVER take the docs word that it’s NORMAL. SEE the results with your own eyes and KNOW what the range should be. I FEEL by best when my TSH is between a 1-2. The standard " range" is .3something to 3.3something…I’d have to look it up. For me, anything close to 3 or over and my hair falls out, I get depressed, dry skin, etc… Good luck
Thyroid is normal had several tests over the years to explain tiredness, last test a few months back it was normal. Got copy of results.
