Had enough of it all.

How does everyone else manage ? Recently I’ve had enough of it all, constant appointments and getting passed from pillar to post with no real outcome or change. Constantly feeling like I’ve lost my old self and confidence to even do basic things. x

Hi Steven. Sorry to hear this mate.

… You kind of have lost a part of your old self. We all have but, you’re still you. Life is different now and, it always will be - I don’t like it much either. All the appointments, cancelled appointments, new dates, new issues popping up, all these flippin’ pills

I can’t do a lot of things that I used to find so easy. Sometimes we just have to take a step back and reconsider for while. Sometimes we even have to ask for help but, that’s not the end of the world. There’s always someone out there having a worse time than us.

I hate the phrase ‘new normal’ because there’s nothing normal about this. We just have to play the hand we’ve been dealt as best we can.

It will take time to accept it and adjust to it all but, we will get there - we have no choice really. It’s happening now mate (the appointments, delays and time taken are all part of it) :person_shrugging:

If you don’t mind me asking - what did you do before all this?

All the best :+1:

Jon.

Hi mate,

Thanks for reply. I currently work as a plumber but off work at minute for few weeks. I think in all honesty I need to find something lighter duty wise very soon. Just on a pitty party spiral at moment adjusting to it. Currently waiting to see neurophyio.

Appriciated the reply as it can be a bit lonely and over wheelming regarding symptoms, very mixed info even from health professionals etc.

Take care.

Pity party nothing mate :+1: I’ve been in a kind of slump since I was diagnosed 3 months ago.it often helps me to get out for a short walk - I tend to appreciate the bits that are still working for me.

My missus had to help me change the kitchen tap a couple of weeks ago - I would have had that done in seconds before.

I don’t know what it’s like round your way but, secondary schools and colleges round here would be grateful for someone with your experience to train and assess stúdents learning the trade

Even B&Q this way like to have someone with your experience to show DIYers the basics :+1:

There’s loads of good embers on here so feel free to pop in whenever you’d like. Even if it’s just to sound off for a while.

Alll the best mate:slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Steven,

Sorry to hear you are feeling down. It’s such a lot to get used to isn’t it? And then it bloomin changes!

You’re not having a pity party, you’re processing. Be kind to yourself if you can. You’re doing your best in a difficult situation and anyone would be struggling. We have all had times of struggling on here I would think (I certainly have!).

There is so much support on here.

You might also like to have a look for your local MS Society group. Mine are brilliant - it’s a really active group with lots of friendly people and a right mix.

We don’t talk about MS loads (though there is always someone willing to if you want to), but it’s good to be around people that get it.

Wishing you all the best

Alison

For me I take a deep breath and play a very loud music. I can escape the mess going on around me and refuse to let anything else enter my space. Once I’m calm and ready to move on I will start again my way. Back to basics small steps but I’m in charge. it’s taken me years, its hard to put myself first but we all must do it. MS two letters against all my experience I can win, I may loose the odd fight but not the war. Be brave and strong keep waving your hand you are still important and deserve the very best.
