GP visit

Hi all, I’ve become concerned about some symptoms I’ve been having, dizziness, brain fog, fatigue and some bowel and bladder issues :frowning: I saw a GP last week and she was so dissmissive I left in tears, I’ve got depression and she said it was all down to that apart from bladder and bowel which is down to age (I’m 38) and having had 4 babies. I vowed never to speak to a GP about it again but I’m finding some of the symptoms quite debilitating at the moment so I have a phone appointment with a different GP tomorrow. Should I mention that I’m concerned about MS or am I being a hypochondriac? I do realise my symptoms could be caused by a huge number of things but MS seems to match as well.

Hi Cookie. I feel your pain as I am going through the diagnosis process too right now. From reading through the forum most of the early symptoms seem to be nerves issues in hands, feet and face. This is what I have In addition to vision issues which is why I am concerned about MS. Do you have any of these? I can’t see them mentioned in your post

kind regards

Jonathan

Hi there Cookie,

You have to do what you think is right for you. From my time on this forum what I do know is that sometimes GPs don’t like people self diagnosing.

Bowel and bladder problems - down to age and 4 babies - seriously at 38 that is too young to have problems.

For your phone appointment write down the most important things that you want to say.
Perhaps:
Bowels how often do you go- try to quantify this - is it once a day, twice a day or once every few days? Is it different to normal? What consistency - if you look at the Bristol Stool chart a Bristol 4 is best. I used to keep a poo diary - sounds really gross but it really helped me. Also stress can affect our bowels - not saying you are- but it is something the doctor might mention. Also any blood in your poo might be asked as is a red flag.

Bladder - how much do you drink in the day and how many times do you wee - do you have to get up at night to wee?

Try to write down any answers

Good luck and I hope this helps

Hugs

Hi Cookie, how did the phone appointment go? xx

Thank you so much for asking. I wrote down my concerns which include some historic problems such as visual disturbance and ongoing balance issues, I was very calm and clear and finished by saying I was concerned that amongst other things my symptoms could be MS. Writing it all down helped so much. I’ve had a full blood panel done and have an appointment next week to review the blood results and possibly refer to a neurologist.

Oh good…you`re getting looked after. xxx
