Hi I have been Tecfidera, for 4 years. I was swapped to a generic brand and keep getting side effects . Has anyone had this happen. Any help please ? Thank you.
Hi, I’ve been on Tec for 7 years, can’t remember when I started getting the generic versions but it has made no difference at all in terms of side effects.
I presume the ingredients are the same as the branded version so you’d wonder how this could happen.
I’ve been changed to generic. Had throat issues, like swallowed marble, then pain in neck and upper chest. Some evenings, it’s like a toe curling spasm every few seconds. Went on for few hours. Sometimes it wakes me up, but not fully awake. I’m sure it’s the tec change. Trying get nurse to take it seriously. Dimethyle fumarate (tec) kept me stable for 10yrs so don’t really want to change. But the tec brand was fine.
Unfortunately (for us), cash is king, so generic it is. I have read on here that some people have been able to get back on branded Tecfidera so you may be lucky.
