I have recently increased the dosage of Gabapentin to 300mg, 3 times a day. The pain in my back and arm is far worse. Will things improve?
Hi Robertjamesyoung
I’m sorry to hear about the pain you’re in. I can only speak for myself of course, I have recently increased my gabapentin intake for pain too. I now take 600mg in the morning and evening and 300mg at lunch. I have found some further pain relief (although it hasn’t stopped pain totally by any means, I feel that I am managing better than I was). My GP is happy to increase again if I feel like I need more but I don’t want to become too dependent on the tablets so am holding off on any increase for the time being.
Not sure if this has been of any help whatsoever, but it is my story re gabapentin.
I wish you all the best.
Thank you for your comment. It gives me some hope.
I started gabapentin a few months ago for pain in both feet. Was initially on 300 mg three times a day which definitely helped. However started to get pain return on some days, so morning dose was upped to 600 mg. A few weeks ago was increased again so now on 900 mg in the morning, 600 mg early afternoon, and 300 mg at night. I think cold makes my pain worse, if so makes sense I’ve had to increase dose as winter arrived. Still quite new to ms though so still trying to work out what triggers are for symptoms.
but basically I’ve found it helps but dose has increased over time. I don’t know if this is typical with people taking gabapentin.
I hope you get some relief with the increased dose
Thanks for the reply Steve. The worst pain in my back has eased off a bit now. I think my body is adjusting to the change in dosage.
