Hi
just wondering if anyone else is feeling how I do. So since lockdown shopping has changed, I visibly look well and do not have a blue badge, BUT my left leg doesn’t work too well and cannot walk quickly, and pushing a shopping trolley is tricky especially round corners.
My frustration is that to get to the back of the queue before entering the shop I have to push my trolley round a maze of barriers which I find hard and slow people down behind me who seem impatient. I think it would be useful to be able wear something which indicates you have a mobility problem.
Also it would be helpful at the checkout as I often find it hard to grip items and put them in my bag, again I feel embarrassed and slow. If one could show an outward sign that you need a bit more time I think it would help.
I do think most people are good but if you look ok how are they to know you are struggling?
Any thoughts?
Sally
Hello Sally,
The simple solution is to go to customer services in the store you visit and explain your problem to them.
The staff will normally bend over backwards to help out. Most supermarkets have a one way system which I find very tiring I explained this to the staff and they gave me a necklace to wear so that it showed the staff I had a disability and might require some help. It also enabled me to not have to walk the one way system. Also ask at the checkout for help packing your shopping, Morrisons staff always ask if you need help. If they don’t, just ask
The simple solution is to have your shopping delivered. Why put yourself through all that inconvenience. If you don’t have a computer phone your order through. You should be on the vulnerable list. If not, talk to the supermarket.

Can you do an online shop.I have been doing for years now as i cant get out to shop.I used to like to shop,to pick my own food but it got to the stage i just couldn’t anymore.I soon got used to it.They are good at refunding you for things you are not happy with.It makes life much easier for people like us.
In the current situation, all the more reason to get your shopping delivered. Why would you want to go out shopping anyway?
Perhaps like me OP can not get a home delivery. I gave up weeks ago trying to get home deliveries even though I am on the most vulnerable list there are no slots available.
Its a problem that there are not enough slots.I have been lucky with Morrisons.I had to spend a lot of time online at the beginning and had to que online just to book a slot too,but now its a bit easier thankfully.I never could get a slot with any of the other big ones though.
