I very much doubt it. I wasn’t entitled to one on the NHS, even when my dad had terminal cancer, and was on immuno-suppressing chemo, and to get flu’ would have been the end of him. The only way was if I paid privately.
I don’t think there’s any automatic entitlement for being a carer (unless you’re a professional one), or for just being a relative of someone who mustn’t get flu’.
Had my flu jab last friday, doctor asked if i had the pneumomia jab?i hadnt because this year is only the second time for me to have the flu jab so wasnt aware of the pneumonia one. So last friday had the flu jab in my left arm and pneumonia in my right, nurse said its a bit different from the flu. It knocked me for six.
Was ill from Saturday until Wed this week my balance went, sickness, arm was like it had been burnt and aching.I felt terrible. I think next year have the flu jab and have a gap before having pneumonia. Anyone else had the pneumonia jab and had a bad reaction?
I will be having my first pneumonia jab next winter. (In Australia here, so season’s back to front) My GP did say that the side effects are worse than for the flu jab but given how bad my pneumonia was this winter we both feel it is better to have the pneumonia jab. And as far as I am concerend a few days of feeling a bit under the weather is better than nearly dieing and weeks of being really unwell with pneumonia. And after this winter’s pneumonia I will do anything to avoid getting it again.
Just made my appointment for flu jab, receptionist had never heard of the pneumonia one though. My son who is 10 is also getting one due to my MS. Have to admit after being floored with a bug for 2 weeks that everyone else has rid themselves of within a week i’ve learnt a little lesson. I also work full time and never take days off but im no good to anyone ill…
Most definitely. I am getting it tomorrow. My family all got colds recently but I got a full blown chest infection. Think it was because I had steroids shortly before.
Yes I’m going next week, have had it for the past 4yrs, as have my husband to hopefully stop him bringing anything home, I would recommend it, Luv Jean
Just wondering if anyone on Tysabri has had the flu injection and if so, did you develop any negative side effects. As Tysabri is an immunosuppressant, I’m not sure if I should have mine this year…getting conflicting messages from those treating me. Thanks Taz
