First or second attack

Hi everyone,

i am new to forums and wasn’t sure I should post as I have not been diagnosed yet with MS.

over 10 years ago I had an attack where my legs where weak and I couldn’t stand, I was also being sick all the time and bad with fatigue and found sometimes I could not open my eyes or lift my head off the pillow but could hear everything around me. I under went test but nothing could be found and within a few months most of the symptoms disappeared. The symptoms that didn’t disappear where fatigue and problems with my joints.

so Jan 2016 I started having bad headaches and after 2 weeks decided to go to doctors who said it was likely migraines but sent me for an eye tests. They agree with doctors that it was migraine but where concerned that I could not do a field test with my right eye and asked me to come back the next day to repeat it which I failed to be able to do again. The next day half the vision in my right eye started going cloudy and called NHS direct who wouldn’t let me someone and told me to wait to Monday and see GP. By time Monday came I had lost all the sight in my eye and was sent to the eye hospital. I spent 5 hours there test after test including a CT scan. They still couldn’t work out was was happening and told me to come back the following day and then was diagnosed with optic neuritis and had to wait 3 weeks for MRI on my brain and eye. The scan showed lesions and then had to wait weeks for a lumber puncher what showed that I had unpaired and paired oligoclonal in the CSF and serum. So the letter I received says that I am at risk of further attacks. The letter I received two months ago and I have still not spoke to a neurologist to discuss the results as the consult I was under went on leave for 3 weeks then decided he wasn’t going to see me on his return and passed me to a new consult who was on holiday at the time (story of my life) which then I was put back on a waiting list of up to 12 weeks. Well I got an appointment 12 weeks on dot with new consult who specialises in MS. My doctors has put me on to medication to help and has tried to get me seen earlier but has been told that I would have too wait till my appointment and would be seen earlier which is strange as I have been expecting new symptoms.

Over the the last couple of months I have had problems with my right eye, burning sensation in my feet, legs and face. I have had pins and needles over my body. I had motion dizziness and been sick. I have been bad with fatigue.

So last night I started feeling really unwell and bad with fatigue. Had burning sensation and pins and needles running from my feet to my knees. I also has same sensation running on my face and my right eye was uncomfortable. I also was getting random pin and needles over my body. I had a slight fall trying to close the blinds as misjudged the distance. I also felt really hot. Tonight I am not feeling much better and feel like I could throw up. Over the past two night I have took double of my medication which the doctor said I should do if symptoms are bad.

I still have two and half weeks to my appointment to finally see a neurologist. Just wonder how I will cope and worried I am having another attack. Since the day I took I’ll I feel like I have not been getting the treatment I should have and been left to cope with two young children and my marriage if on the rocks and husband has moved out for the min as its causing so much stress. My life already been on hold for 5 year due to a mid handle birth with left me need 5 surgeries to try fix a bowel incontience which has failed and can’t be fixed to now this

sorry been so long but really down with all that going on and have no one to speak to as no one seems to understand what I am going through. Anyone got any advice?

I am so sorry you are having all these problems as well as being ill.Does not seem fair.I too am waiting to see the neuroscience on the 31st.I just got out of the hospital as my legs went totally numb one day.I called my husband at work.He took me to er.They told me they could do nothing as they are there for emergencies only.Really?I would think a 67 year old woman presents with numbness you check for a stroke or something. They never touched me.Not knowing what to do I called my pain dr in tears. His wife told me she would see what she could do.Within a half hour she called back and told me to get to er where they were and I would be admitted for tests. They had put together a team of drs that included a gp and neurosurgeon. So I am awaiting my appointment for an EMg.

I wish you a lot of luck but if anyway possible I would try to get help sooner as in the emergency room.

Hi the treatment you received is terrible and that is the main reason I won’t take myself to A&E as I feel they won’t believe me and tell me to wait for my appointment. This has happened to me before when I was having ongoing abscesses and I was sent home on two occasions and the abscesses burst.

Not feeling great tonight still just so tired and legs are still playing up with burning, pins and needles and muscle are tightening and random pins and needles over my bodies. Nearly had a melt down tonight, memory is terrible and threw my Medication in my bin by mistake. Thankfully I saved them otherwise I would have been in trouble tonight.

I have two appointments, one on the 6th June to check how my eyesight is coming back and another on 8th to finally meet a neurologist about what going on and praying for an answer even if it’s bad.
