feeling a bit scared really, i feel ill have done for over a week, the thing is my pulse rate is very slow, its missing beats and it feels like my heart is about to stop,i keep taking my pulse and its been like this since this morning,i keep thinking i am imagining it,but im not, do i phone NHS,dont know what to do,my partners a lot on at the moment his mums in hospital very ill and i dont want to worry anyone, has anyone had this, its quite scary.
don’t worry too much. There are several conditions where you’ll experience irregular heartbeat and I don’t think they’re in any way life threatening or serious. I would think your blood pressure is low, possibly. Do you feel faint, at all?
it could be atrial fibrillation. It will make you feel under-powered and unwell, plus you’re getting that from the ms as well.
you will probably find that it settles down. The main thing is, I don’t think you’re having a heart attack or anything like that. The best thing to to do is lie down and rest.
but I’m not a doctor. You must get it checked out ASAP if it continues. Is there a hospital drop in centre you can go to? Did the helpline help at all?
main thing is, don’t worry. Rest, concentrate on your breatihing. It’ll be alright.
Kev
ps not wanting to worry anyone is not a good reason for not seeking medical advice. After all, you’re worried, don’t store it all up.
I’ve had this a couple of times Mrs J and phoned ambulance first time and 2nd time phoned NHS (is it 211?) and they said get a taxi to A&E.
Suggest you do same.
Mine turned out to be a sensitivity to magnesium… but there are loads of reasons that it happens and is rarely serious… but it doesn’t hurt to get it checked out.
The A&E doctor told me if it happens again come back to A&E… so it’s a condition they expect you to go there for.
Hope this helps… believe me I did lots of reading about it… as I say, rarely serious but need to get it checked out this evening if at all possible.
Hi Pat and Kev,thanks for replying, i am resting and it seems to be calming a bit now,you have both put my mind at ease,i googled it and have seen that its not likely to be serious,i dont like googling as it can scare you but i was feeling pretty scared,
if it doesnt go off i will go to see a dr monday or tues, i dont fancy sitting in A& E for hours on end
thanks again,so pleased i have good people on here that i can turn to…means a lot
Hi Pat,just been thinking… i take magensium at night for spasms and i have been eating quite a few bananas this last week as i am dieting… i think bananas have a lot of magensium in them too,so i could be sensitive to it too…
Yep bananas have loads of magnesium. The first time it happened to me I’d been eating Brazil nuts… loaded with magnesium. The second time was taking magnesium supplement. When I stopped taking it my heart went back to normal within about 24 hours.
But I still think you should get it checked out… just in case. You don’t want to go taking chances with your heart.
Really, if you can possibly get to A&E tonight I advise you to go.
just noticed it was your birthday today Pat, sorry i didnt know…hope you had a lovely day…was going to put a smiley cake on for you, but since its changed they arent on anymore…
